Mayor Announces Receipt Of Police Audit

Zimmer spread the news through Twitter

Long awaited, but finally here: the state's audit of the Hoboken Police Department.

Mayor Dawn Zimmer announced through Twitter on Friday afternoon that she has received the audit, but held off on sharing any more information before Monday morning.

"I just received the police audit. More news to come on Monday," the mayor wrote on Twitter around 6 p.m. on Friday.

The mayor's special aide, Daniel Bryan, said more information would come in the form of a press release on Monday morning.

Zimmer has been asking the state to release the audit, which is needed to make decisions about the police department, such as possible budget cuts.

The mayor had been in possession of a draft of the audit, but was not legally allowed to share that information with anybody until the audit was officially finalized.

During a press conference on the matter on Feb. 3, Zimmer said State Director Susan Jacobucci had promised her that the report would be finalized on Jan. 18. And that it was in final draft form.

"We need the information that's in this audit," Zimmer said during that conference.

In a  more recent interview, Zimmer said that the acting commissioner of the state's Department of Community Affairs, Lori Grifa, contacted her recently, something Zimmer said she was hopeful about.
