17-Year-Old Charged In January Home Invasion: Holmdel Police

The incident occurred in the early morning of Jan. 13 at a home on Round Hill Road, police said.

HOLMDEL, NJ — A 17-year-old from Newark was recently charged in connection to a January home invasion on Round Hill Road, Holmdel Police said.

The teen was charged with burglary and conspiracy, police said. Holmdel Police did not release further information about the teen's identity.

The incident occurred on Jan. 13 at 5:50 a.m. when police said two people attempted to open several high-end vehicles in the driveway of a home on Round Hill.

After finding the cars locked, police said the two then entered the home through an unlocked back door.

As the suspects entered the kitchen area looking for keys, police said they were scared off by the homeowner’s dog and fled in a black SUV. They left just before police arrived at 5:58 a.m.

Following a lengthy investigation by Detective Maguire, including locating and processing evidence at the scene and executing multiple communication data warrants, police arrested the 17-year-old suspect.

Holmdel Police did not release further information about the second suspect.
