Driver of Overturned Truck in Holmdel Escapes with Minor Injuries

A driver who lost control of his truck and struck a median escaped the overturned vehicle with only minor injuries on Saturday in Holmdel.

A South Amboy resident lost control of his truck Saturday afternoon and struck a median before the vehicle overturned, the Holmdel Police Department is reporting.

Givi Rukhadze escaped with only minor injuries, according to Holmdel Lt. Michael Smith, after he lost control and struck the median of Route 35 near the Holmdel Commons at approximately 3:53 p.m.

His 2001 Ford pickup truck then overturned and came to a rest in the middle of the highway, Smith said.

Rukhadze suffered only minor injuries, and was treated and realeased at the scene by the Holmdel First Aid Squad.

There were no other vehicles involved in the incident, according to Smith. Rukhadze was issued a motor vehicles summons for careless driving.

Sgt. Edward Martinez is handling the accident investigation. Officer Martinez, Officer Erin McGrath, and members of the Holmdel First Aid Squad and the Holmdel Fire Company responded to the scene.
