HAZLET, NJ — 2nd Floor Youth Support Network has launched a new app aiming to provide free, confidential mental health support to New Jersey youth.
Based in Hazlet, the 2nd Floor network provides a forum where adolescents can take control of and improve their emotional, mental, physical, psychological and social well-being.
The organization is part of 180 Turning Lives Around, which aims to empower survivors and families affected by domestic violence and sexual assault.

“Being a young person can be incredibly challenging, and loneliness is a prevalent issue in today's society,” Liz Graham, the CEO of 180 Turning Lives Around, said. “2NDFLOOR has always been dedicated to providing support for youth 24/7, 365 days a year, offering a listening ear and guidance to help young individuals navigate their next steps and connect with a trusted adult. We are excited to launch a comprehensive app that will set a new standard in how 2NDFLOOR is delivering services directly to young people.”
Now in its 20th year of service, 2nd Floor remains NJ’s only multi-service program geared toward 10-to-24-year-olds.
Through its youth helpline, the network has provided critical support to over 1 million NJ children since 2008.
“In my work with the National Governors Association, it was clear that New Jersey is a leader in providing a comprehensive system of supports and services for youth mental health and wellbeing. This new app builds on our robust continuum of care and underscores our commitment to meet New Jersey’s young people where they are with critical aid,” Governor Phil Murphy said. “I commend Commissioner Beyer for her pioneering leadership and continued dedication to improving the lives of our state’s children, and I thank 2NDFLOOR for ensuring our youth have the tools necessary to overcome their unique challenges and thrive in their communities. This app will save lives.”
With its new app, 2nd Floor hopes to provide youth across the state with the ability to connect with live counselors via chat, text, or call, and place vital mental health resources directly at users’ fingertips.
The app is available for free in the Apple Store and Google Play.
“2ND FLOOR has long been a trusted name and organization in New Jersey, showing a deep connection and commitment to our state’s young people – offering multiple forms of assistance,” said Christine Norbut Beyer, the commissioner for the Department of Children and Families, which administers the state’s public behavioral health system for youth and provided funding for the app. “Thank you to 2NDFLOOR and to the extraordinary youth that helped build this crucial resource. This app will truly make a difference for New Jersey’s young people.”
