Snow Day Called For Holmdel, Hazlet Public Schools
Several inches of snow were expected to fall overnight in the area.
HOLMDEL, NJ — The Hazlet Township Public Schools and Holmdel Township Schools districts announced that schools will be closed on Friday due to the snowfall.
"Due to continuing inclement weather, the Hazlet school district will be closed today, January 7th. Virtual instruction will not be offered. Enjoy the snow and stay safe," Hazlet Township Public Schools said in a statement.
Both districts initially announced a delayed opening in anticipation of the upcoming winter storm.

A winter weather advisory was in effect in Monmouth County and the Jersey Shore area was predicted to get 4 to 6 inches of snow overnight, according to the National Weather Service.
The majority of snowfall was set to take place likely take place between 1 and 7 a.m.
