Politics & Government
Holmdel, Are you better off now than you were 3 years ago? The answer is YES!
When the Buontempo/Santhana 'Reign of Error' Ended, Holmdel began to prosper once again.

Three years ago, Greg Buontempo and Prakash Santhana threw our township into chaos when they tried to consolidate their power by changing our form of government. They spent $50,000 of your tax dollars on their selfish effort – dividing our town and creating a public embarrassment.
After they lost overwhelmingly, Prakash Santhana resigned without even fulfilling his first term – the second Buontempo ally to step down before their term was complete – and a year later, Buontempo himself was out of office.
Their reign ended with one of the worst track records in Holmdel history – unprecedented increases in spending AND debt, sweetheart deals with developers to build on historic properties in town (while those same developers lined their campaign coffers), blatant efforts to undermine our schools, and neglect of our first responders.

This is not opinion – it’s all public record.
Since their ‘Reign of Error’ ended, Holmdel has once again taken our place as one of the premier towns in the state of New Jersey:

- Niche has given Holmdel an A+ overall rating.
- Property values have INCREASED 32% while your municipal tax rate has DECREASED.
- Moody’s has given Holmdel a ‘AAA’ credit rating.
- And we began 2025 with the largest budget surplus in township history.
This reversal of fortune was not luck. It’s what happens when the right people focus on the right things.
From the moment Buontempo and Santhana lost power, our Township Committee began immediately undoing the damage they caused. We have …
- Exhibited fiscal responsibility by reducing your overall tax rate AND paying down the Buontempo mountain of debt.
- Preserved more than 60 acres by stopping Buontempo’s efforts to build townhomes over The Horn Antenna and denying his attempt to develop Potter’s Farm.
- Invested in our schools by paying for security officers, helping update the Duncan Smith Theater, and contributing $600,000 toward additional needs this year.
- Improved recreation by building the popular Courts at Bailey Lane.
- Supported our first responders by hiring more police officers and enhancing our EMS presence while also upgrading the EMS building and Police headquarters.
- Delivered for our seniors with new services, programs, renovations to the Community Center, AND a proposed new 7,000 square foot Senior Center at the former Vonage site.
As many of you know, I am passionate about our town and take seriously our responsibility to deliver for each and every one of you … and we have delivered. Again, don’t just take my word for it, it’s easily found on the public record.
You are – by any measure – better off now than you were 3 years ago. Let’s put the Buontempo/Santhana ‘Reign of Error’ behind us once and for all and ensure 3 more years of success.
