Holmdel's Allocco Park Playground Set To Open Next Week
The playground now features inclusive and ADA-compliant equipment, thanks in part to a grant secured through Monmouth County.

HOLMDEL, NJ — The new and improved Allocco Park playground is set to officially open next Monday, with a ribbon-cutting ceremony scheduled for 5 p.m. that anyone can attend.
The playground now features inclusive and Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) accessible equipment thanks to a $200,000 grant that the township received last year for improvements in the playground.
The grant was secured through Monmouth County's Municipal Open Space program, which awarded a total of $3.47 million in grants to parks in 23 towns.

“Our goal was to ensure that public outdoor play areas are accessible to all children in Holmdel and the surrounding area,” said Holmdel Mayor Greg Buontempo in a statement. “We were grateful to receive funding assistance from the county and Game Time Projects which made it possible for us to construct this inclusive, accessible playground.”
Deputy Mayor Cathy Weber, the chair of the Parks and Recreation Committee, agreed.
"The residents of Holmdel have been reaching out to the Township Committee for some time to request an ADA compliant playground. I am happy that we were able to make this a reality for our children," Weber said.
