Holmdel-Hazlet Mom Is 'Wonderful, Strong, Brave & Caring'

HOLMDEL-HAZLET, NJ— Moms do so much for everyone around them. We try to celebrate them all year long, but Mother's Day is a perfect opportunity to shout it from the rooftops and post it on Patch: Mom rocks!

Here at Patch we've launched an initiative to help recognize the awesome moms and mom figures in communities like yours.

This submission comes from Jaime Wolfson who nominated Doreen Minutella of Holmdel-Hazlet.

What makes your Mom extra special?

My mother is one for the books! She has always been selfless taking care of me, my two brothers and everyone around her. She was the co-director of a local lunch program that helps the less fortunate for the better part of 20 years. She has taught me and two children Madison and Brayden how to be caring and giving members of society. In late 2019 she was diagnosed with an aggressive form of cancer. We stayed by her side every day like she would’ve done for any of us. She fought hard and is recently in remission. I am honored to have such a wonderful, strong, brave and caring mom that has taught me to never give up! I teach my children all of the awesome things she has taught me. Thank you Mom, for always being there for everything. My life is better because you’re in it. We all love you and hope you have the amazing Mother’s Day you deserve.

Why do you feel your Mom deserves the spotlight?

I feel my mother deserves the spotlight because she was an amazing mom, which made me a great mom to my children. I don’t know many people that don’t think twice about helping everyone around them.
