HOLMDEL, NJ — Rocco Impreveduto, a Republican, was the only candidate of either party to file a petition for election to the one open seat on the Township Committee by Monday's deadline.

No Democrats filed by the 4 p.m. deadline Monday for the spot, Township Clerk Wendy L. Patrovich confirmed.

Impreveduto, currently the township mayor, has served one term on the Township Committee and is seeking re-election to a second term. The committee is comprised of five Republican members. He was chosen mayor in January by the other members.

This means there is no Republican primary and, barring any Independent filing in June or write-in campaign, Impreveduto would run unopposed. In the past two years, one Independent and one Democrat have unsuccessfully challenged the Republican favorites.

"I'm honored to have the opportunity to continue serving our great town and fulfilling my obligation to our residents," Mayor Impreveduto said Tuesday.

Impreveduto previously served on the township Planning Board and Recreation Committee, he said.
