The officers promoted and officers sworn in at the Township Committee meeting include:
Michael Moore
After starting his career in law enforcement as a police explorer at 16 years old, Moore began working with the Holmdel Township Police Department in 2002 when he became a dispatcher for them.
Following his appointment as a Class II Police Officer in 2003, he graduated from the 29th SLEO II Class of the Monmouth County Police Academy in May 2004, and was sworn in as a Patrolman in July 2007 after graduating from the 74th Basic Police Officer’s Class at the county police academy.
Throughout his years of service, Moore's training prepared him for a successful career where he has also received multiple awards and distinctions, including:
- Two “Mothers Against Drunk Driving” Awards
- NJ’s Top Gun DWI Award
- Holmdel’s 2010 Officer of the Year
- 12 Letters of Commendation
- Three Lifesaving Awards
In July 2016, Moore was promoted to the rank of sergeant in the Patrol Division, where he led a Patrol Squad, Allocco said.
During his tenure, he served as a Field Training Officer, Background Investigator, First Aid Supply & Defibrillator Coordinator, Narcan Coordinator, and CJIS TAC Officer.
In 2024, Moore joined the department’s Accreditation Team and played an integral role in the department’s re-accreditation. Currently, he is assigned as Patrol Lieutenant in the Holmdel Police Department’s Patrol Division.
James Corrigan
A lifelong resident of Holmdel, Corrigan earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice from Seton Hall University after attending Holmdel schools.
In 2015, he graduated from the Monmouth County Police Academy and was assigned to Holmdel’s Patrol Division.
While a patrolman, Corrigan served as a background investigator and a field training officer, having trained over 10 officers. In 2021, he was assigned to the Detective Bureau as a temporary detective, where he excelled as an investigator.
His determination earned him a full-time detective position, in which he has been busy solving theft, fraud and burglary cases, Allocco said.
Alongside his experience as a police officer, Corrigan also has deep roots in law enforcement and comes from a long line of police officers, dating back to WWII.
“Corrigan’s connection to Holmdel only adds to his already remarkable dedication to his career,” Allocco said.
With his promotion, Corrigan will now be a Patrol Sergeant assigned to the Holmdel Police Department’s Patrol Division.
Scott Gomes
Ptlm. Scott Gomes comes to the Holmdel Township Police Department from the Neptune Township Police Department, where he’s served as a Class I Officer since 2023.
After earning an Associate’s Degree in Criminal Justice from Brookdale Community College, he graduated from the 59th class of the Monmouth County Police Academy as a Class II Officer earlier this year.
Gomes has gained experience as a Class II Officer with Neptune Police before being hired by Holmdel, and will now serve as a patrolman in the department's Patrol Division.
Colin Coder
Prior to being hired by Holmdel, Ptlm. Colin Coder earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice from the University of New Haven in 2023 and served as a SLEO I for the Belmar Police Department in the summers while home from college.
After graduating from the Monmouth County Police Academy as a Class II officer in May, Coder returned to the Belmar Police Department to serve, and will now serve as a patrolman in the Holmdel Police Department’s Patrol Division.
“We congratulate Lieutenant Moore and Sergeant Corrigan on their promotions and are confident they will continue to motivate their peers and lead by example,” the Holmdel Police Department said in an online statement. “Additionally, we are pleased to welcome Patrolman Gomes and Patrolman Coder to the department, and we wish them the best of luck in their careers.”
“The Holmdel Township Police Department is honored to share this news with the Holmdel Community, and we look forward to seeing what our newest officers will accomplish as they serve our community,” the statement said.
