Holmdel School District Named Most Popular In Metro Area For Moving Season, New List Says

The Realtor.com list reveals the districts where families are most actively looking to relocate in the top 50 metros this moving season.

HOLMDEL, NJ — A school district in Monmouth County has been named the most popular school district in the metro area this moving season, according to a report from Realtor.

Using views per property from out-of-district home shoppers from May to July 2025, Realtor.com identified the most popular school districts in each metro area.

To focus specifically on school-driven home shopping activity, the report limited the traffic analysis to properties with at least one nearby school rated 8 or above based on scores from GreatSchools.

The results revealed the districts where families are most actively looking to relocate in the top 50 metros, the report said, reflecting preferences for “a combination of education quality, community lifestyle, and overall livability.”

In the New York-Newark-Jersey City (NY-NJ) metro area, the Holmdel Township School District was crowned as the most popular, boasting a district rating of 8 and a median list price of $1,361,583.

“Thrilled to announce that Holmdel Township School District has been named the most popular school district in the metro area by Realtor.com!” Holmdel Township said in an online post.

“According to the report, people were most interested in the district for its combination of education quality, community lifestyle, and overall livability,” the post continued. “...We’re honored to be a place so many people want to call home!”

On Niche, the Holmdel Township School District has an overall A rating, with an A+ in academics, teachers, and college prep, an A- in administration, a B+ in clubs and activities, and a B- in diversity.

According to state test scores, 67% of students are at least proficient in math and 74% in reading.

Statewide, Niche ranked the Holmdel Township School District 16th out of 352 for the districts with the best teachers in New Jersey, and 26th out of 374 for the best places to teach in New Jersey.

"Over the past several years, our district has seen consistent growth across nearly every measurable indicator from test scores and state rankings to reductions in disciplinary incidents and HIB cases," Superintendent Scott Cascone said in an online post.

"These results are the product of a community that works together: our Board of Education, administration, faculty, staff, parents, and students," Cascone continued. "When we pull in the same direction with a positive, growth-oriented mindset, the results speak for themselves."
