How To Report Drone Sightings In Holmdel & Hazlet

Hazlet Police and Holmdel Township have issued statements on recent drone activity throughout the state and how to report it.

HOLMDEL-HAZLET, NJ — As reports of drone sightings increase throughout New Jersey, local officials are urging residents to report potential sightings to local police or the FBI.

In Hazlet, police are asking residents to report potential drone sightings near critical infrastructure to 732-264-6565 or 911 in case of an emergency.

Residents can also call the FBI at 1-800-CALL-FBI (1-800-225-5324) or submit a tip through the FBI tipline (videos can be directly uploaded through the FBI’s online portal).

“The Hazlet Township Police Department has acknowledged an increase in drone sightings across the township and state over the past few weeks,” Hazlet Police said. “While it is not illegal to fly drones in unrestricted airspace, we do understand that the presence of drones can raise concerns within our community.”

“As our state and federal law enforcement partners continue to monitor this unexplained drone activity, residents are encouraged to report any information or video footage related to recent sightings of possible drone activity,” Hazlet Police continued.

In Holmdel, residents concerned about a potentially suspicious drone sighting can call the Holmdel Police Department at 732-946-4400 to report it.

In the event you discover a downed or landed drone, police are urging residents not to approach it.

“As reported sightings of unidentified drones continue across Monmouth County, the Holmdel Police Department is working in collaboration with our local, state and federal partners on this issue,” Holmdel Police said. “There is no information indicating any specific, immediate or credible threat from drones.”
