Immediate Care Of Hazlet Takes RAINE Kids On Fishing Trip

Immediate Care Medical Walk-In, which has a branch on Rt. 36, took 60 kids from RAINE and Father Time for a day of deep-sea fishing.

HAZLET, NJ — On Monday, August 27, Immediate Care Medical Walk-In of New Jersey, which operates urgent care centers in Red Bank, Hazlet, East Windsor and Toms River, hosted the fourth annual Kids Fishing Trip.

The local urgent-care business took approximately 60 kids and parents from the Bayshore region for a fun day of fishing aboard the "Mi-Jo," a 75-foot charter boat that operates out of Atlantic Highlands, guided by Captain Mike and deckhands, Dee and Zack.

Immediate Care CEO Sal Cannizzaro welcomed the kids from two well-known organizations in the area, Father Time and the RAINE Foundation. It was a beautiful, sunny day for a fishing trip.

“This is not just a day of fun for the kids and all of us involved,” said Cannizzaro. “The kids also learned so much about fishing and marine life. It really is an all-around educational and rewarding experience for everyone.”

During the excursion, Cannizzaro also took the time to properly show the kids how to bait their rods, cast and reel in when they got a bite. The Littoral Society also joined the event to teach the children about the different species of fish and which fish are tagged and which are returned to sea due to size.

The morning began with breakfast provided by Hot Bagels in Red Bank and then all “boat crew” received custom printed t-shirts donated by Michael Duru Clothiers. The afternoon was spent fishing for porgies and sea bass near Far Rockaway with lunch provided by Jersey Mike’s of Middletown. Prizes were originally going to be awarded for the three largest fish caught, however the children caught such a large amount of fish of equal size, names had to be drawn at random. The winners received brand new Penn Fierce II Fishing Rods courtesy of Reel Seat of Brielle.

The Annual Kids Fishing Trip is an event that Immediate Care looks forward to every year as an exciting and memorable day for all involved.
