KaBoom! Fireworks on the Navesink Spectacle

Sights and sounds of the patriotic pyrotechnics of the KaBoom! fireworks show in Red Bank

By late afternoon, things were looking bleak. With rain falling on Red Bank and storm warnings predicting severe wind and lightning in Monmouth County, few people gathered in the borough’s parks for KaBoom festivities Sunday.

What a difference a few hours can make.

Though official crowd estimates have yet to be released, tens of thousands of visitors packed every square inch of available open space in Red Bank seemingly in just the few minutes prior to the start of the annual KaBoom! Fireworks on the Navesink spectacular.

The approximately 25-minute show, touted by KaBoom Committee officials as the second largest in the country, thrilled the crowds of people who set up chairs and blankets on the wet grass all along the river in Red Bank, from Maple Cove to Marine Park and all places in between.

Aside from those involved in a couple of incidents following the show – we’re presuming the additional police presence helped keep things calm, calm for the most part – most everyone in attendance was able to find a good view and have a good time.
