Next 'Goal: Zero' Campaign Planned For Route 34 In Holmdel

The intent of Holmdel Police's "Goal: Zero" campaign is to confront the rise in traffic deaths in NJ over recent years, officials said.

HOLMDEL, NJ — The Holmdel Township Police Department’s next “Goal: Zero” high-visibility campaign will take place on Thursday on Route 34, Holmdel Police said.

From 3-7 p.m., authorities said the campaign’s county-wide enforcement detail will be on the road. The intent of the campaign is to confront “the staggering rise in traffic deaths NJ has seen in recent years,” according to police.

As of Monday, police said 72 people have lost their lives on state roadways in 2025 — with three of those deaths occurring in Monmouth County.

As a result of the 2024 enforcement details, authorities said Monmouth County officers stopped 2,276 vehicles and issued 1,400 summonses, including 129 speeding violations, 3 reckless driving violations, 76 careless driving violations and more.

“Traffic safety culture and driving behaviors need to change in order to keep people alive on NJ roadways,” police said. “Law enforcement agencies in Monmouth County are dedicated to lowering these numbers [traffic deaths] and keeping our roadways safe.”
