Police Chase Vehicles Stolen Out Of Holmdel, New York City

Holmdel police attempted to nab two motorists speeding in town early Friday morning, authorities said.

HOLDMEL, NJ - Holmdel police attempted to nab two motorists speeding in town early Friday morning, driving vehicles reportedly stolen out of Holmdel and New York City.

At around 3:15 a.m., a Holmdel police officer observed an Audi Q7 and Mercedes SUV driving “carelessly” on Crawfords Corner Road near Longstreet Road, Holmdel police said in a statement.

As the patrol officer turned around to follow the vehicles, the motorists accelerated and continued driving recklessly, police said.

The vehicles continued onto the Garden State Parkway using the Arts Center entrance from Crawfords Corner Road and driving at dangerously high speeds, police said, when officers lost sight of the vehicles.

At about 3:30 a.m., a White Birch Lane resident reported their Audi Q7 was stolen from their driveway, police added, noting that the vehicle was unlocked and the key fob was left inside.

It was later discovered that the Mercedes SUV had been reported stolen from New York City.
