Roadway Collapse Amid Ida Causes Water Service Issues In Holmdel
A water main break caused service to be interrupted. The New Jersey American Water began making emergency repairs on Thursday morning.

HOLMDEL, NJ — Deerfield Road between Old Manor Road and Chestnut Ridge Road was closed due to a roadway collapse from storm damage, according to the Holmdel Township Police Department.
Water service was interrupted in the area because of a main break. New Jersey American Water began making emergency repairs on Thursday morning. The issue should be resolved by 8 p.m., according to the company.
Residents in the area can expect discolored or cloudy water, low water pressure or no water, according to an emergency alert from the company.

When water service is restored, customers may experience discolored water. If your water is discolored, run the cold water taps only at the lowest level of the house for about three to five minutes until the water runs clear, the company advised.

Other areas of the state did not fare so well. At least one person died and two others were missing in Passaic, as floodwaters from the Passaic River inundated part of the city.
In many towns, cars were trapped in flooded streets and there were multiple water rescues, according to reports.
