Set Up Bluetooth Pairing For Your Phone, Car In Holmdel Program
On April 19, Holmdel Township and Best Buy in Holmdel will offer free set-up to link your phone to your car's hands-free function.
HOLMDEL, NJ — All this month, police departments around the state are reminding motorists that distracted driving is dangerous driving.
And in Holmdel, there is some practical help on the way for people who haven't yet connected their cell phone to their car's hands-free function.
The Holmdel Township Police Department has partnered with Best Buy in its Bluetooth Pairing Initiative to help reduce distracted driving - and the accidents that can result.

The free event will be Wednesday, April 19, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Best Buy in Holmdel, 2130 Highway 35.
Drivers can get help linking their phone to the car, and will be shown how to use cell phone features, such as the "do not disturb" option.

Cell phone dash mounts will be provided to drivers in the township senior community, if needed.
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, 3,142 people died as a result of distracted driving in 2020.
And statistics like that are behind New Jersey's annual “U Text. U Drive. U Pay” enforcement campaign that began April 1.
