HAZLET, NJ — Daily parking payment for the Hazlet Train Station is now "smarter," the township says.

The Hazlet Train Station has parking areas maintained by NJ Transit, plus other areas maintained by Hazlet Township. Lots are located off Holmdel Road and Hazlet Avenue.

In spots maintained by Hazlet Township in the lot off Hazlet Avenue, there are permit parking spots and daily parking spots.

Drivers using Hazlet's 60 daily parking spots (spots 301 to 360 along the outer perimeter) are now able to use a new payment system that is replacing an "antiquated" system, the township says.

Payment can be made using the onsite kiosk or the Park Smarter app to pay via smartphone.

The rate is $4 for the day, the same as NJ Transit's daily rate. Parking passes will expire at 3 a.m. unless they are extended for another day, which is possible to do remotely. The daily parking ordinance will be enforced by Hazlet police.

Drivers who prefer to use Hazlet's annual permit parking spots in the center of the lot can obtain them through Hazlet Public Works.

Commercial vehicles will be permitted to purchase daily passes, as long as they are not larger than 10 feet wide or longer than 19 feet long.
