If you experience cloudy or discolored water, NJ American Water advises residents to open a cold water faucet from the closest point where the pipe enters the property and allow the water to flow for approximately three to five minutes. Repeat this flushing step once or twice within an hour, as necessary until the water clears.
According to NJ American Water, once demand lessens, the water pressure and aesthetics should return to normal.
