Baby Drowns In Hopatcong Pool Saturday: Police

The community is already coming together to support the family, through a GoFundMe and Meal Train.

HOPATCONG, NJ — A baby passed away over the weekend in an accidental drowning, Hopatcong Police Lt. Megan McCluskey confirmed.

15-month-old Devon Chasse-Williams died on Saturday, McCluskey said. An investigation remains ongoing, but the death appears to be accidental.

Chasse-Williams is the son of Solstice Cafe owners, Sean Williams and Jill Chasse. The community has already begun rallying around the family, establishing a GoFundMe and a meal train.

"There are times that nothing else matters except pulling together as a community and helping others. The Williams family, owners of Solstice Cafe in Hopatcong are going through the unimaginable. Their 15 month old son Devon, tragically and unexpectedly died. They need our help as a community and financially to get through this tragedy," Robin DeLorenzo wrote on a fundraiser set up to off-set funeral costs.

So far, $4,150 has been raised towards a $25,000 goal.
