Drunk Driver Went Backwards Down Wrong Side Of Road: Sparta PD

SPARTA, NJ — An accused drunk driver drove backwards down the wrong side of the road in the early morning hours, Sparta police said.

Jason Rice, 46, from Budd Lake, was arrested on March 23, police said. Around 2:15 a.m. that morning, Rice allegedly drove backwards on the wrong side of Stanhope Road, police said.

When Rice reached the Woodport Road intersection, he was stopped by police. Police had him perform field sobriety tests, and was arrested, police said.

He was charged with DWI, improper backing and careless driving. He was released to a sober adult with an upcoming court date.
