SPARTA, NJ — A Sparta man was arrested after drunkenly spitting at a police officer following a bowling alley arrest Thursday night, Sparta police said.

William Hagany, 26, faces several charges, including throwing a bodily fluid at a police officer, stemming from the Thursday night incident, police said. Police were called to Sparta Lanes are 8 p.m. for help with a drunk patron, police said.

When they arrived, Hagany was yelling at other patrons and refused to follow police instructions, police said. He was placed under arrested for disorderly conduct, and while police were trying to place him in the backseat of the patrol car, spit on an officer, police said.

Hagany was taken to police headquarters and charged with disorderly conduct, throwing a bodily fluid at a police officer, and obstruction for refusing to provide fingerprints, police said. He was released to his father with an upcoming court date, police said.
