Free Movie Night at Hudson Maxim, Blues Traveler Takes a Trip to the Newton Theatre

Here's what you need to know for Friday.
- The Creation Station focuses on the winter holiday season this week. On Friday, the Sparta Public Library's weekly crafting session for young children presents an opportunity for kids to drop in and craft seasonal items. The session, which runs from 11 a.m.-4 p.m., is for children age four and older. Admission is free and refreshments will be provided. - Bring the family out for Free Movie Night at Hudson Maxim School Friday. The Hopatcong Elementary PTO hosts the event, which will feature a showing of "Dolphin Tale." Wear your pajamas, bring a blanket and get ready for good, clean family fun. Refreshments including freshly popped popcorn and juice will be available for purchase. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and the film starts at 7 p.m. Hudson Maxim School is at 452 Lakeside Blvd.
- Jamband fans rejoice: The much-loved band Blues Traveler brings its singular improvisational sounds to the area Friday night when it plays the Newton Theatre. Tickets range from $47-$67 and may be purchased online. Showtime is at 8 p.m. The theater is at 234 Spring St. in nearby Newton.
- Keeping It Clean: In Hopatcong, sanitation crews will follow Garbage Pickup Schedule D; no recycling pickup is indicated on the calendar. The Recycling Center in Hopatcong will be open Saturday from 8 a.m.-4 p.m. In Sparta, check with the online schedule.
