Five Boxes Of Paper Can Be Shredded At Free Sparta Event For Residents, Businesses, Groups

The rain or shine event on Sept. 25 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. is on a first-come, first-served basis.

SPARTA, NJ — Sparta residents, businesses and not-for-profit groups can benefit from a free paper-shredding program coming up in Sparta.

In partnership with SK Shred in Branchville and the Sparta Township Recycling Program, the rain or shine event is scheduled at the Sparta Municipal Building from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 25.

The secure paper shredding process is happening on a first-come, first-served basis, until the shredding trucks are filled up.

There is a five box limit per car, however, there is no limit on the number of times that attendees make return trips to drop off paper, according to the Township of Sparta.

  • Box sizes permitted should be approximately 24”x15”x11”, with non-returnable boxes recommended to tote the paper for disposal to the site.
  • No magazines or books can be accepted for shredding.
  • Paper clips and staples can stay attached to papers being disposed.
  • Binders, plastic bags and other plastic items can’t be dropped off.

During the process, those dropping off will be instructed to stay in their cars, while Sparta Township staff wearing protective gear will be at the site to take the paper items being dropped off, to the shredders.
