High School Food Drive Collects More Than 2,500 Items for Holiday

Donations of nonperishable food items and turkeys came from staff and students across the school district.

The Hopatcong High School chapter of the National Honor Society collected over 2,500 canned and boxed Thanksgiving goods as well as 32 turkeys for its annual food drive, according to a district statement.

The 18 members of the group spent the afternoon of Nov. 25 packaging food items and getting them ready for delivery. The next day, teams of two NHS members delivered turkeys and food baskets to families in town.

The donations came from staff and students across the district, and their generosity again helped provide a wonderful Thanksgiving for needy families in the community, said Superintendent of Schools Cynthia Randina.
