Man, 21, Jailed For Year-Long Sexual Relationship With North Jersey Girl, 15: Cops

SPARTA TWP., N.J. – An Elizabeth man is in the Sussex County Jail after police say he spent the last year having a sexual relationship with a 15-year-old Sparta Township girl.

On Feb. 4 Sparta Police were dispatched to a township home when a parent discovered his daughter, 15, was possibly having a sexual relationship with an adult, Sgt. Dennis Proctor said.

Cpl. Rob Fraser and Officer Taylor May learned Rodrigo Vasquez, 21, of Elizabeth was possibly having a sexual relationship with the girl for more than a year, dating back to when the she was 14 years old, Proctor said.

A further investigation by Det. Jeff McCarrick confirmed the relationship had occurred, and Vasquez was charged with second degree sexual assault and third degree endangering the welfare of a child. Vasquez was lodged in Sussex County Jail in lieu of $100,000 bail with no 10-percent option.
