North Jersey Man Killed After Crashing Into Dump Truck

Police said the man drifted into oncoming traffic before the crash.

SUSSEX COUNTY, NJ — A Morris County man has died after crashing his car into a dump truck on a Sussex County highway, authorities said.

On Wednesday, New Jersey State Police responded to a car crash on U.S. 206 in Sandyston Township.

Police discovered that a Nissan traveling south had crossed the double yellow line into the northbound lane, with oncoming traffic, and slammed into a Kenworth dump truck.

The Nissan driver, Richard Dudley, 70, from Madison, was thrown from his car and died from his injuries, officials said.

The driver of the dump truck, whose identity has not been shared by authorities, was treated for minor injuries.

Police said the crash is still under investigation, and no further information is available at this time.
