Heavy Trucks May No Longer Be Allowed On A Couple Of Sparta Streets
The Sparta Township Council plans to adopt an ordinance prohibiting trucks greater than four tons on Fiddlers Way and McCloud Lane.
SPARTA, NJ — The Sparta Township Council plans to update township code to disallow trucks carrying more than four tons from certain streets.
The council introduced its ordinance to remove the four-ton weight limit on White Lake Road, which traverses a section of the township between Route 15 to Route 94 by Sussex County Technical School, while adding the limits on two other streets.
The ordinance, which had its first reading on Sept. 14, allows no greater than a four-ton weight limit on Fiddlers Way and McCloud Lane, a residential section, which leads to Demarest Road, with Demarest an offshoot of Route 15.

Both Sparta’s Police Chief and Engineer agreed the change was necessary, according to the ordinance.
Once the ordinance is approved, with its public hearing this coming Tuesday night, Sept. 28, trucks carrying greater than this weight, won’t be permitted to travel on any length of those two streets.
