Sparta Schools Eye Technology to Enhance Security
Board of Education provided demonstration on the scanning devices.

The Sparta Township Board of Education hasn't explained why, but it is actively considering high-tech ways to make school building entrances more secure, and municipal leaders are paying attention, according to The Alternative Press.
The Board of Education hosted a demonstration Tuesday of an optical scanning device, a machine used to verify visitors' identity via iris recognition. Recently, Superintendent of Schools Dennis Tobin and board members Karen Scott and Frank Favichia visited Princeton to see a demonstration of the SRI iris scanner.
The district is considering two other iris scanning devices: the Raptor Visitor Technology System, being used by Vernon public schools, and Fast-Pass, which already is being used at Sparta's Rev. Brown Elementary School and Pope John XXIII High School, the article continued.
