Track Club Runner Makes Top-20 State Time
Polar Bears Track Club ran in second meet of the season this week.

In only their second meet of the season running for the Polar Bears Track Club, Hopatcong's winter track trio posted solid efforts.
The girls, Courtney Macaluso and Jade Webster, each competed in three events while Dylan Capwell put all his energy in to his premier event.

Easily placing first in the Young Men's division of the 800m run at the USATF - New Jersey Association Youth Indoor Developmental meet held on Jan. 27 at the Bennett Center in Toms River, Dylan posted a top-20 statewide time of 1:59.63.Â
Courtney came home with two first places and a second place showing. That second place race resulted in an West Jersey top mark of 7.67 in the 55m dash. In her first complete attempt at a new event, she place first in the 55m Hurdles in just over 10 seconds and placed first again in the 200m dash among all the Young Women (17-18 yr old) with a time of 28.03.Â

Jade also had a successful meet, tying her personal best of 4'6" in the high jump in her first attempt indoors and placing first. She also placed third in the shotput, tossing the weight 24'11.5" and then picking up a personal best in the 55m dash with a sixth place finish of 8.38 seconds.
They will be competing again as Polar Bears on Saturday at the Park Slope Armory in Brooklyn then on to the North 1 Group 1 state sectionals back down in Toms River representing the Chiefs as individual entries. A top-six place at that meet will qualify for the NJ State Group 1 Championships later that month.
