Horse Rescued In Howell After Getting Stuck In Mud

The horse fell into a stream and got stuck in mud behind Echo Lake in Howell on Sunday afternoon.

HOWELL, NJ — A horse was rescued from a stream behind Echo Lake in Howell on Sunday afternoon, after falling and getting stuck, according to Southard Fire Dept. No.1.

First responders helped the horse get back on its feet by using straps, ropes and sheets of plywood.

They were able to extricate the horse from the mud.

There was a veterinarian on location supervising the removal and status of the horse.

Members of the Freewood Acres Fire Company No. 1, Squankum Fire Company #1, and Howell Township Office of Emergency Management also responded to the scene.
