Howell Announces 9/11 Memorial Ceremony Plans For Friday

The 20th anniversary of the attacks on the twin towers will be marked with a ceremony in town. See here how to attend.

HOWELL, NJ — For the 20th anniversary of the attacks on the World Trade Center, Howell Township is holding a ceremony on Friday at the 9/11 Memorial Monument, by the Old Town Hall.

The event will start at 6 p.m.

On Saturday, the Monmouth County shoreline will light up with cellphones from residents and elected officials.

The plan is to get everyone to turn on their lights at 8:46 p.m, honoring "the heroes" of Sept.11, 2001.

The Board of County Commissioners is also inviting families of Monmouth County 9/11 victims to attend a Memorial Ceremony at 8 a.m. at Mount Mitchill Scenic Overlook, at 460 Ocean Boulevard, Atlantic Highlands.
