Howell Offering Free Rabies Vaccination Clinic

The free clinic is open to anyone who needs rabies shots for their pets. Howell residents can renew pet licenses at the clinic.

HOWELL, NJ — Howell Township will host its annual free rabies vaccination clinic on Saturday, March 1, the township announced.

The clinic, which is open to anyone whose dog or cat needs a rabies vaccination, is scheduled for 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Howell Public Works Garage, 278 Old Tavern Road.

In case of bad weather, the clinic would be held on Saturday, March 8.

If your pet has received a rabies vaccination before, please bring proof and they will receive a 3-year vaccination; if this is their initial vaccination or if proof of previous vaccination is not available, they will receive a 1-year vaccination.

For Howell residents, if the rabies vaccination of your dog or cat expires before January 2026, the pet's vaccination will need to be updated before you can get a 2025 pet license in Howell, town officials said.

Howell pet owners wishing to license their dog or cat after receiving the vaccination should bring cash or a check payable to Howell Township to pay the license fee. Credit cards cannot be accepted at the clinic.

The license fees are as follows:

  • $14 for a spayed/neutered dog
  • $17 for a non-spayed/non-neutered dog
  • $4 for a spayed/neutered cat
  • $6 for a non-spayed/non-neutered cat
