Monmouth County Man Found Guilty On All Counts For Wife's 2011 Murder

Patrick F. Allen, 47, was found guilty Thursday of the 2011 murder of his wife, found dead in their Middletown home.

The husband of a Middletown woman found dead on the kitchen floor of her West Front Street home in 2011 was found guilty of her murder following two days of deliberations by a jury, announced Acting Monmouth County Prosecutor Christopher J. Gramiccioni.

Patrick F. Allen, 47, of Middletown, was convicted of the murder of his then 44-year-old wife Kimberly Allen. A jury of four men and eight women found Patrick F. Allen guilty of first degree Murder, third degree Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose, fourth degree Tampering with Physical Evidence, and third degree Hindering Apprehension following a trial that spanned 10 weeks in the courtroom of Monmouth County Superior Court Judge John T. Mullaney, Jr., J.S.C.. Sentencing is scheduled for Jan. 29, 2015.

Allen now faces a maximum sentence of life in a New Jersey state prison, subject to the provisions of the “No Early Release Act” (NERA) requiring him to serve 85 percent of the sentence imposed before becoming eligible for release on parole. Additionally, Allen faces up to five years in prison on each of the third degree charges, and up to 18 months in prison on the fourth degree charge.

Middletown police responded to a 911 call around 11:45 a.m. on Nov. 18, 2011, where they found the victim, Kimberly Allen, deceased on the kitchen floor. A joint investigation by the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office and the Middletown Township Police Department revealed Allen and his wife were involved in a struggle that led to Patrick Allen striking his wife with a frying pan. The Middlesex County Medical Examiner’s Office determined the cause of death was homicidal violence, including asphyxia and blunt impact injuries to the head. Allen was arrested and charged with the murder of his wife on that same day.

The case was prosecuted by Monmouth County Assistant Prosecutors Maria Franceschini and Mary Juliano. The defendant is represented by John C. Allen, Esq. of New Brunswick.
