New Police Youth Program Launched In Howell

HOWELL, NJ — The Howell Township Police Department has a new youth program for kids interested in law enforcement.

The Junior Cadet program is a youth membership program that will partner with the Howell Police Public Safety Cadets, the police department said.

The Junior Cadet program is for kids who are at least 12 years old who have finished seventh grade. Meetings will be held at 7 p.m. on the second and fourth Thursdays of most months beginning in February.

Junior Cadets will train alongside the Public Safety Cadets and Howell police officers to earn credits to expedite membership into the Public Safety Cadets.

The Public Safety Cadets program is for 14- to 21-year-olds. The 14-year-olds must have finished eighth grade to be eligible.
