Police Officer Promotions, New Hires In Howell; Applicants Sought

The Howell Police Department announced some personnel moves, and also announced it is seeking applicants for various positions.

HOWELL, NJ — Two Howell police officers have been promoted to sergeant and two new hires have joined the force, the Howell Police Department announced.

Promoted to sergeant are Officer Ed Homiek and Officer Nick Austin, the department said.

Homiek was promoted from the midnight shift where he served as a patrol officer. Homiek has eight years of experience, having served as a patrol officer and narcotics detective.

Austin was promoted from the day shift where he served as a patrol officer. Austin brings nine years of experience with Howell Police and a year with the Camden County Police Department. He has been a patrol officer and a member of the detective bureau.

Two new hires for the department are Joseph Pipher and Daniel Acquaro.

Pipher joins the agency from Medford Township Police Department and Acquaro joins from Hanover Township Police Department. Both officers have begun their agency training and are being assigned to field training officers.

The department also is looking to hire more officers and has posted a notice on its Facebook site with all the details, as well as on its website.

The department is currently accepting resumes for the position of police officer as well as SLEO Class II and SLEO Class I Officers. PTC Class A certified police officers and bi-lingual officers are encouraged to apply. Forward your resume to recruiting@howellpolice.org.

The department is also encouraging retired officers who are interested in Class III school security positions to apply.
