Port Authority Cops: Howell Man Drove Drunk At Newark Airport

NEWARK - Port Authority police charged Howell man with drunk driving after they spotted him driving the wrong way on a one-way street at 2 a.m. on Thursday.
Thomas J. Scanlon, 48, was driving his Toyota southbound on Parking Lot Road, which is a northbound street at the airport, the police report states
Port Authority police activated their lights, pulled the driver over and saw that his eyes were glassy and bloodshot. He smelled of alcohol and slurred his speech while he was being interviewed, police said.

Scanlon failed a field sobriety test and was found to be two times over the allowable limit when he was given a breath test twice, police said.
Scanlon was charged with driving under the influence, careless driving and traffic summonses, according to the report.
