Water Main Work Disrupting Howell Roads For Several Weeks

One project began Monday with daytime road closures. A second project is set for next week.

HOWELL, NJ — Water main installations will be disrupting traffic on multiple roads in Howell Township over the next several weeks, the township announced.

New Jersey American is installing a new water main on Vanderveer Road. That work, between Seton Hall Drive and Industrial Court, is anticipated to take two weeks.

Drivers should use detours from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday until the work on Vanderveer Road is completed. The detours are onto Howell Road and Fairfield Road, officials said.

Emergency vehicles and school buses will have access through the work zone at all times and there will be police officers at the work zone to help residents who live within the work area get access to their properties, officials said.

A second, longer project is set to begin Jan. 12, the township said. New Jersey American will be replacing the water main along parts of Lawrence Avenue and Aldrich Drive. That work is anticipated to take six weeks, the township said.
