Monmouth County Clerk Christine Hanlon Is New Chairwoman Of New Jersey Republican Party

MONMOUTH COUNTY, NJ — Monmouth County Clerk Christine Giordano Hanlon was just elected Monday to be the new chairwoman of the New Jersey Republican Party.
She succeeds Glenn Paulsen, who stepped down at the end of 2025 as the NJ GOP chair. Hanlon won by a majority vote taken Monday by the New Jersey Republican Committee. Out of 42 voting members, Hanlon received 26 votes, beating out Rosemary Becchi and former Bogota Mayor Steve Lonegan, according to Central Jersey Newswire.
The voting was held at the Hibernian Club in Hamilton.

Hanlon is the first woman to chair the NJ statewide Republican party in over 30 years. Before she took the statewide role, Hanlon has been co-chair of the Monmouth County Republican Party, a title she holds alongside Monmouth County Sheriff Shaun Golden.
Both the Monmouth County Republican Party and NJ state Republican Party campaigned for President Donald Trump in 2024, who won, and for Jack Ciattarelli in November 2025, who lost.

Hanlon said one of her top priorities will be to unite the New Jersey Republican Party. She said she also wants to work on improving outreach and communications, leveraging education and training, boosting fundraising, bolstering voter engagement and protecting election integrity.
“It is now more important than ever before to have a strong and unified Republican Party,” Hanlon said Jan. 6. "We need to come together to work for the betterment for the New Jersey Republican Party and the people of New Jersey.”
Hanlon was just re-elected to her third term as Monmouth County Clerk, meaning she oversees elections in Monmouth County. She is also an expert on election integrity issues, having served for five years as a Commissioner on the Board of Elections in Monmouth County. Prior to assuming her role as Monmouth County Clerk, she was a practicing attorney for more than 20 years, focusing on government affairs and municipal law.
