Wayward Deer Sparks Shelter-In-Place At Howell School
The deer smashed into a door at the school, police said.

HOWELL, NJ — Students and staff at a Howell Township elementary school had to shelter-in-place on Tuesday after a deer smashed into a door at the school, Howell police said.
The incident happened Tuesday morning at the school, which serves children from preschool through second grade, police said in a post on the department's Facebook page.
The deer hit one of the entry doors to the school, ramming it hard enough to cause a large spiderweb crack. The deer was dazed but otherwise unhurt, police said.

"This just goes to show how good the quality of education is at Griebling ... the deer are trying to break in to join the kids," police quipped.
It's not the first time in recent months where a deer caused damage at a school in the Shore area. In late November a white-tailed deer got into a Toms River elementary school, setting off a chase caught on the officers' body-worn cameras as police tried to corral it.
