5 Things to be Thankful For in Jefferson

Sports, recreation and open space, to name a few.

β€˜Tis the season to give thanks for the good things we have. We often think of family, friends, jobs, homes, food, etc. But what about the town we call home? There are many things to be thankful for right here in Jefferson.

  1. Open Space: Some 75% of the town is made up of open space where we can hike, rest and relax.
  2. Wildlife: Many of us can look right out our window and see deer, bears, wild turkeys and a wealth of other wildlife just hanging out, enjoying the town. While of course we need to be careful of bears, aren’t they kind of fun to watch?
  3. Lake Hopatcong: Part of the township rests on the shores of New Jersey’s largest lake. With boating, swimming and fishing available, it’s not a bad place to live.
  4. Sports Leagues: Kids and adults have so many choices of sports to play in town, including baseball, softball, basketball, football, soccer, lacrosse, volleyballβ€”and we’re sure we’re forgetting some. But even with those, there’s no shortage of ways to keep busy in town.
  5. Recreation: The Jefferson Arts Committee, community band, community players, programs at the libraryβ€”if you want to keep busy in town, there are many ways to do that.
  6. And a bonusβ€”Jefferson Patch! Okay, it's a little self-serving, but what better place to get your town news?
