5 Things You Need To Know About the Middle School Promotion Ceremony

Thursday night marks the promotion ceremony for eighth grade students at . Here are five things you need to know about the ceremony:
- Time/Place: The ceremony takes place at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday at the Joseph Ennis Athletic Field at . In the event of rain, the ceremony will be moved inside to the Freedom Gym at the high school. Any change to the place will be announced through the Honeywell Instant Alert system and on the districtβs web site.
- Dress Code: The usual dress code restrictions have been lifted due to the forecast of hot weather. Boys will no longer be required to wear a white dress shirt and tie; however, the school asks that all students dress comfortably but βin a manner befitting the dignity of the ceremony.β
- Hydration: Bottles of water will be placed on each graduateβs seat. Students may not bring water bottles into the ceremony. Guests will be responsible for bringing their own water.
- Traffic: The Office of Emergency Management (OEM) advises motorists to be aware of traffic and pedestrians outside of the high school between 5 and 9 p.m. on Thursday.
- Noisemakers: The school asks audience members not bring cell phones, electronic devices or noise making devices, since these can cause a distraction during the ceremony.
