Breast Cancer Walk Helps Girl Scout Earn Gold Award
Junior Darianne Mastricola headed up event.
Breast cancer awareness got a big boost last weekend when Jeffferson Township girl scout Darianne Mastricola spearheaded a one-mile walk to honor survivors and those fighting the disease.
Mastricola, a high school junior and member of Troop 1890, completed the project for the 65 hours of requirements to earn her Gold award. However, Mastricola said she put in many more than 65 hours.
βI chose this project because I have known many people who were somehow affected by breast cancer, and itβs an important womenβs issue,β Mastricola said.
