JEFFERSON, NJ β Jefferson Township police made multiple arrests in February, including for drunk driving and heroin possession. Read about those arresets, as written by police, here:
02/09/2019: Officer Ondish observed Scott Akos, 39, Oak Ridge, unable to maintain his lane on Berkshire Valley Road. After failing field sobriety tests, Mr. Akos was placed under arrest for DWI. Mr. Akos was transported to police headquarters where he was processed. He was issued MV Summons and released pending a furure court date.
02/10/2019: Sgt. Gjelsvik initiated an MV stop on Beaver Point Trail after observing a vehicle near Stanlick School with two brake lights not operating. Upon making contact with the driver, Sara Stern, 22, of Mt. Arlington, a strong odor of burnt and raw marijuana was emanating from the vehicleβs driver compartment. Officer Saparito arrived and observed a glass pipe with burnt residue on the passenger side floor. Ms. Steiner admitted to being in possession of CDS and turned over an empty pill container of marijuana. She was transported to HQ where she was processed, charged and released.

02/12/19: PO LaMantia stopped a vehicle on Route 15 north for an equipment violation. Upon speaking to the driver, Kyle Rodin, 20, of Greentown PA, an odor of marijuana was detected from the interior of the vehicle. Upon a search of the vehicle, a small amount of raw marijuana was found inside the vehicle. Rodin was placed under arrest, processed and released on a summons.
02/12/19: Theresa Foley, 70, of Blanche Drive, Lake Hopatcong, crashed her vehicle on Brady Rd. Further investigation revealed an odor of alcoholic beverages on her breath, slurred speech and exhibited signs of intoxication. She was placed under arrest, processed, issued MV Summons and released pending a future court date.

02/13/19: Mark Sepe, 58, Lake Hopatcong, was arrested after a $750 warrant from JT Municipal Court was found. Sepe was placed under arrest and brought to HQ. He was then brought to court and seen by Judge Fico, who remanded Sepe to Morris County Correctional Facility.
02/15/2019: Jaime Delaney 21, of Sparta, was found to be in possession of CDS (Heroin) following a traffic stop for speeding on Route 15 south. She was arrested, processed, issued summons and released on a summons pending a future court date.
02/15/19: Amanda Sherman, 39, of Summit, crashed her vehicle on Rt. 15 north by Mountain Tire and Auto. PO Ondishβs investigation revealed Ms. Sherman was under the influence of alcohol. She was arrested for DWI, processed, issued several MV Summonses and released pending a future court date.
2/19/19: After a lengthy investigation for Distribution of Heroin, the Jefferson Township Police Department arrested Francisco Donato, 34, of Lake Hopatcong while operating his vehicle on Route 15 North. During the MV stop, a large quantity of Heroin was found in the possession of Mr. Donato. Donate was charged with Distribution of Heroin, Intent to Distribute Heroin and Possession of Heroin. He was remanded to Morris County Correctional Facility pending a court date.
