The lightning off the field couldn’t overshadow the lightning on the field Friday night, as the football team defeated Newton 36-7 on opening night of the 2012 football season.
The game was delayed by about 30 minutes because of lightning with 6:23 left in the third quarter. By then, the Falcons were ahead 22-7. They added to their lead after the game was restarted.
Senior receiver Danny Brown broke two tackles and ran back a punt for 65 yards for a touchdown in the fourth quarter, after he caught a J.R. Reese pass in the first quarter for his first touchdown of the year.
