Get Rid of Unused, Unwanted Drugs at Jefferson Township Takeback Event
Law enforcement asks residents to turn in expired and unused medications so they don't fall into the wrong hands or endanger the water supply.

The Jefferson Township Police DepartmentΒ is gearing up for a weekendΒ Medication Takeback campaign. OnΒ Saturday from 10 a.m.-2 p.m., residents will have the opportunity to visit the Municipal Building Court Room to get rid of their unwanted, unused over-the-counter andΒ prescription drugs in a safe manner.
People are encouraged to bring for disposalΒ expired or unwanted prescriptions or over-the-counter medications and vitamins; drugs that didnβt work for you, a family member or pet; medicationsΒ that are no longer used or from deceased family members and tablets and capsules, liquids you cannot identify.

The effort helps prevent potentially dangerousΒ medications from falling into the wrong hands or into the hands of criminals who might market them to children or other people, according to the federal Drug Enforcement Administration, which partners with police departments across the country to deal with the problem of drug disposal.
