Get Rid Of Your Unwanted Medications In Jefferson This Weekend

JEFFERSON, NJ — National Drug Take Back day is this Saturday, and you can get rid of your old and unwanted prescriptions in Jefferson.

The twice-annual collection day will take place on Saturday, Oct. 16. Participating agencies will collect any unwanted or expired pills and patches, but not needles or liquids.

Here are the closest locations accepting medications near Jefferson:

• Jefferson Municipal Building
• Ogdensburg Police Department
• Picatinny Arsenal Police Department
• Rockaway Borough Community Center
• Sparta Township Police Department

For the first time this year, sites working in conjunction with the federal Drug Enforcement Administration will collect vapes and vape cartridges during the Take Back event. Just make sure that anything you plan on dropping off does not have a lithium ion battery, and double-check with your drop off site that they are collecting vapes.

Thousands of tons of medications have been collected nationwide since the first Take Back day was held in May 2016. During the most recent collection in April, 468 tons of medications were collected across over 6,200 sites.
