Golden Falcon Marching Band Wins Competition

Band takes first in group, wins two caption awards.

The Jefferson Township High School Golden Falcon Marching Band took first place in last weekend’s Tournament of Bands competition in Matawan. The Golden Falcon won first place in its group with a score of 85.90, and also won caption awards for Best Music and Best Visual.

The band performed its show “Pictures at an Exhibition,” the music of Modest Mussorgsky, featuring the selections “Promenade,” “The Old Castle,” “The Hut of Baba Yaga” and “The Great Gate at Kiev.”

Upcoming competitions are Saturday Oct. 8 in Roselle Park starting at 5 p.m. and Sunday Oct. 9 in Madison starting at 1 p.m.
