Jefferson Man 'Exposed' Himself to Detective Posing as 12-Year-Old, Prosecutor Says

Justin Burke charged with attempted sexual assault and endangering the welfare of a child.

A Jefferson man was arrested on child endangerment charges Tuesday after authorities said he exposed his genitals via Internet webcamΒ to an undercover detective posing as a 12-year-old girl.

Justin Burke, 37, was charged with second-degree attempted sexual assault and third-degree endangering the welfare of a child, Somerset County Prosecutor Geoffrey Soriano said. He was sent to the Somerset County jail.

The Somerset County Prosecutor's Office and Somerset County Sheriff's Office initiated an investigation of Burke with an undercover detective assigned to pose as the girl and talk to him online, a press release from Soriano's office said. While they were talking, Burke allegedly exposed himself in the view of the detective.

Detectives went to Burke's house in the Oak Ridge section of Jefferson Township at 7:35 a.m. with the Jefferson Township Police Department and arrested him.

The Somerset County Prosecutor's Office Computer Crimes Unit assisted with the investigation.Β
